The course is suitable for all levels of ability - first-time carvers, artists who want to experiment with stone, and the more experienced sculptor.
Groups are kept small to ensure personal tuition. A one-to-one discussion will take place to determine what is possible over the two days.

- Introduction to workshop practice and safety
- Reference to tutor's carving and other work
- Subject ideas and selecting stone (with a variety of stone available)
- Introduction to stone carving techniques and tools
- Stone carving on own piece (with ongoing help and advice)
- Information and practice on finishing a piece
- Advice on where to obtain stone and tools
Using a hands-on approach the course will take participants from the basics of three-dimensional form, through the stages of carving (using a range of hand tools), to the completion of a sculpture.
Jennifer is a self-taught stone sculptor, who gained her initial experience of stone by working in a quarry and has also worked with architectural masons, carvers and letter-cutters. Her work includes both public and private commissions and is exhibited widely throughout the UK. |
