Snipe

Snipe are see here, particularly in the wet, boggy moorland habitats where they nest and breed. They’re ground nesting birds, known for being secretive, well camouflaged and hard to spot, often hiding in the grass.

In Spring you may hear their unique ‘drumming’ or ‘winnowing’ sound, produced by their tail feathers during aerial displays.
