A garden that holds more than plants

A sculpture of a pair of birds perched in the garden

When I placed the sculpture in the garden, I didn't expect how settled and ‘in place’ the stone birds would feel, even amidst the movement of the show.

Something especially has stayed with me - apart from the sunshine and beautiful soft, tonal planting, and that is how the birds drew people in with a seeming need to touch and hold.

The use of natural raw materials, local craftsmanship and the clever way it has all been brough together in a small space, makes it a garden worth seeing.

‘The Breathing Space’ garden designed by Melissa Morton Garden Design at Harrogate Flower Show - 23 - 26 April 2026.

If you aren’t able to visit the show here is a glimpse of the garden, it has won Best in Show!
