The annual Art in the Gardens event is being held at Sheffield Botanical Gardens over the weekend of Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September, 2026. I’ll be showing my latest stone sculpture from a little marquee on the lawn which stretches out in front of the range of glass pavilions.
The event is a wonderful opportunity to buy art direct from the artists while enjoying the stunning surroundings that the gardens have to offer.
A favourite was the Rock and Water garden
The gardens cover a large, sloping site - over eighteen different gardens based on geographical or botanical themes are seen from the connecting winding paths. I explored a little when exhibiting here last year and found some heavenly spots.
The imposing gate-house entrance and the glory of warm, honey-coloured sandstone from which it was built (Derbyshire Spa Gritstone, hand worked with a tooled finish). Makes a beautiful frame and backdrop to my stone sculpture on show and illustrates magnificently how perfectly natural stone sits surrounded by garden. Wouldn’t it look fine with a carved bird perched on the top above the arch?
All along the pathways mature planting, flower scents and inspiring organic shapes.
