Birds for ‘The Breathing Space’ garden

design sketch by Melissa Morton for her Breathing Space show Garden

Design sketch of ‘The Breathing Space’ show garden by Melissa Morton Garden Design

I’m honoured to be part of this special show garden designed by Melissa Morton Garden Design at the Harrogate Spring Flower Show 23-26 April, 2026.

My sculpture holds space here - part of a collaboration that explores how art, nature and daily life can settle together.

This garden is where sculpted stone meets sunlight, planting and wellness. A terrace sanctuary shaped for quiet moments, with space for stillness, warmth and returning to nature.

Designed for those seeking a quiet and grounded beauty. The garden brings together natural materials, elegant planting and elements of wellness and calm. Among the foliage and textures, my sculpture holds a small space of stillness - a quiet companion in a garden made for returning to nature and yourself.

The garden includes an outdoor sauna, and a place to rest surrounded by restrained planting to encourage a feeling of connection to the land. It is fitting to have sculpture there too - grounded, present, elemental.

Stone being prepared for my bird sculptures

I met with Melissa and collected the stone for the bird sculptures. Here it is being prepared before carving begins.
