One of a Kind — The Power of Making Just One

Every sculpture I make is a one-off.  Not because I want it to be rare, but because it couldn’t be anything else.

I shape from memory, presence and emotion.  Once it is carved, that moment has passed.  I couldn’t recreate it even if I tried.

And I don’t try.

In a world where replication is easy – where almost everything can be made again – I find deep meaning in making something that can only exist once.

That’s what makes it feel alive.

When someone asks, ‘can you make me one like that?’ I hear the deeper question, can I have something that holds the same feeling?  And the answer is yes – but it will have its own shape, its own timing, its own truth.

One of a kind doesn’t mean better.  It means real.

It means presence, not production.

It means honouring the moment that made it.

If there’s a creature, memory or moment you want to honour through form, I’d love to shape something just for you.
